Hongkong Rush

Just had to post this. I was in Hongkong last Saturday! :) We were there to shoot for Qpids and although everything was in haste (the loveteams were on a race and we were only there for 12 hours), the experience was still fun and memorable. I was in Wong Kar Wai and Tony Leung's hometown for goodness' sake! :D


AD Val and I managed to have our pic taken in Kowloon Park while our assigned loveteam PAUGI were doing their loventure.

Pimping Again

All Good Things Must Come To An End

Sad as it may seem, my first youth show on TV, SCQ Reload will already have its final episode this Sunday. While I have been "on leave" from the show since it changed its title to "Kilig Ako", I still feel its loss. No matter what my artsy fartsy friends say, I'm proud of my work on the show. I'm also proud of what we have achieved. We were rating 20's when we were still daily (a task that's difficult to attain these days in the 6pm timeslot). We had two threads in PEX with fans constantly debating after every episode. We were the first youth show that's multi-character but whose characters are not part of one big happy barkada and whose storytelling is not episodic (well I'd like to be proud of that. Heh. :D) We beat Love to Love for four months since we began the weekend timeslot. (No previous ABS-CBN show had beaten the GMA drama after Tabing Ilog left Sunday afternoon. We started losing when Sandy abruptly left us and we had to do major revisions with the story arch). The show is not ending because of the ratings though. It's just that...well, there are things that's better left unsaid. Heh! :)

Heck, how can I forget this show? The show gave me the opportunity to headwrite a drama series. The show gave me the chance to travel to Korea (lame, I know but still! :D) But more than these, the show introduced me to the staff and crew, the friendships of whom I'm going to cherish forever. Thank you Direk Lauren, Direk Joyce, Direk Bea, Direk Jillmer, Direk Retchie, Miss Maru, Miss Mavic, Miss Mercy, Michiko, Emman, Chris, Ritchie, Kuya Henry, Nelson, Jon Moll, Ros, Piem, Judith, Homer, Ms Nancy and Olive. We shall be working together again.:)

Let me end this entry by reposting what our director posted in PEX.

I personally would like to thank everyone who, in one way or another, supported SCQ Reload till the very end. Especially those who stood by us during our daily show and as we transitioned to the weekly schedule, also when we eventually changed the title of the show to "Kilig Ako".

I have seen how active this thread has been. Your suggestions, comments, rants & raves , and heated discussions with one another have made this show a success and has helped sustain it for 1 whole year.

Together, we laughed, cried, and loved as we watched our favorite characters take on life's challenges head-on.

But as they all say: "Every good thing must come to an end". And so it has for this wonderful show.

For most of you, the program's abrupt end may come as a surprise. For some, you may not have total closure. I only wish it could have ended more smoothly, but due to the circumstances, it would be terribly hard to do so.

I hope everyone would have the time to watch our final episode this Sunday, June 12, 2005.

Pro Bo

I just realized after seeing Bo lost the American Idol 4 crown to Carrie that I've been pro-Bo all along. He is my American Idol. Not that I didn't favor Carrie's win. I mean, if we based the voting results from the finals performance night alone, Carrie did outsing Bo. We know these singing competitions, the winner has to have that Erik Santos "This is the Moment" performance and Bo just didn't have it that night. I have a conspiracy theory though. I think the producers handed Carrie the win because they want to make money machines out of the two. Carrie needed to win to 'up' her value. Bo, with his multitude of fans (yes, I think Bo won the voting, it's even evident in Kodak) and support from Clive Davis, didn't need the title anymore to make it in the business.

Hay, adik! :) On to the next season. :)

I'm losing my touch.

I didn't predict Uchenna and Joyce to win AR 7.

I didn't predict Tom to win Survivor: Palau.

And I didn't predict Bo to win American Idol 4.

Yes, I think Bo has the AI4 crown in the bag.

I'll try to do better next season. :)

ETA: Hindi naman pala ako betlog. I just realized upon clicking on the link of my AI4 prediction entry that BO was my brain pick (after Vasquez quit) and CARRIE was my gut pick. Kaya 1 out of 3 pala ako. Ahhhh! Lame noh?! :)

Updates

Hi all! I figured it's been some time since I last posted so here goes. I just want you to know that I'm still alive and kicking. Hehe.:) I'm busy with work as usual. To those who are wondering when my new show is going to air, I can't disclose the date yet. Let's just say that the company is being very careful in its programming and while they love the episodes they've seen, they want us to launch with another show with established stars to help us in the ratings. (The cast of our show is composed of newbies). I understand their decision so no hard feelings.

One thing for sure, I can't wait for the show to end. For the nth time, I badly need a break. In fact, I've decided already not to take any more offers after the show. This means turning down a movie scriptwriting offer for a teenybopper and a story editor job for a reality show franchise which the network bought. I plan to take a one-month vacation after the show so I can travel around the country perhaps to meet long-lost friends and then bum in my hometown. I also need this, I think, for me to "recharge" whatever creative juices I lost. Heh! Argh, can't wait! :)

BTW, the host of my new show discovered my blog at nakakahiya! Hahaha! What more, he now knows I'm beatlebum of PEX. Yes folks, stars do lurk and post in the message boards. :)

Reality Facts

1. I'm a reality TV show fan.
2. However, I only watch and like Survivor, The Amazing Race and American Idol.
3. I don't like Third Wheel, Blind Date, and other reality shows with "derogatory" grafix (GFX).
4. I enjoy watching Ethel Booba making "okray" in Extra Challenge, but I loathe Paolo Bediones' "okray" voice-overs (VO's).
5. I prefer my reality show to tell the narrative through story editing and on-cam interviews from the participants themselves, and NOT through "spoonfeeding" VO's from the hosts and those cheesy GFX and stingers.

Just to set things straight.

Can somebody explain this to me? Coz this is exactly what's happening to my notebook. (I thought it was just Blaster worm virus!)

And since I'm not exactly a "techie" expert, kindly tell me after the solution to this pesky prob. Thanks! :)
