Cinemalaya 2009!

Cinemalaya 2009 starts this Friday and ends on the 26th at the CCP. I'm supporting these movies...

I will also support Sanglaan, the Cinemalaya comeback movie of my film school classmate and former Best Actress Ina Feleo. This one's also co-written by my film schoolmate Audie Gonzales.

Adolf Alix's trilogy - Karera, Aurora & Manila - will also premiere outside of competition. (Am I right, Adolf? :D) I will support all three.

Excited nako! :) July 11-18 sa CCP! Ano kayang magagandang pelikula this year? Hmmm...

Based sa trailers, ito ang mga gusto kong panoorin.


My Fake American Accent
Una, dahil sinulat siya ni Ned at gusto ko ang mga tema ng pelikula ni Ned. Sa mga mainstream audience, siya ang nagsulat ng Jologs. Pangalawa, dahil nandun si Michael Cera, este si Jonathan Neri. Gusto ko 'tong batang to sa Pisay.



Concerto
Wala akong kakilala na nagwu-work dito pero gusto ko siyang panoorin kasi una, mukhang maganda. Pangalawa, go Bisdak ako e! :)

Susuportahan ko rin ang mga pelikula ng mga kakilala ko - ang Jay na sinulat at dinirek ng kasabayan kong Creative Assistant sa ABS na si Francis Pasion, ang Brutus na kino-write ng classmate ko mula UP hanggang MDAFI na si Arah Badayos, at ang Namets na phino-tograph ng DOP namin sa Kelly Kelly na si Anne Monzon. Knowing them, sigurado akong magaganda rin ang mga pelikulang 'to.:)

Cinemalaya 2007!

Cinemalaya na naman! Let's support indie cinema and my friends specially. Unahin na natin ang Endo na produced ng UFO Pictures (the same team that brought you Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros). This is Jade Castro's directorial debut. Kasama rin sa cast ang aking talent sa kanyang kaisa-isang pelikula. Haha! (Peace Alvin! :D) Watch out for the Owel character.

Siyempre, promote ko na rin ang Kadin ni Adolf Alix Jr. Donsol was my favorite last year that's why I'm looking forward to Adolf's second baby. Also showing will be Still Life by Katrina Flores. She's my Star Cinema batchmate. Proud ako sa kanilang lahat!

I don't know the screening schedule of Still Life and Kadin but here's the sked of Endo.

It's Cinemalaya once again, peeps! Let's support the indies and go to CCP and watch! Michiko and I had a Cinemalaya film marathon the other day, then took our photos with our filmmaker-friends so we can promote their films on this blog.

To those who fear the indies, don't be scared! Here's some little-known trivia about these filmmakers that only you, my blog readers, will know.

* Adolf wrote D' Anothers and for Qpids.
* Arah wrote for the soaps Mangarap Ka and Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay.
* Dado wrote for the soaps Esperanza and Pangako Sa 'Yo.
* Yam also wrote for Qpids, was a story editor of Pinoy Big Brother and directed music videos of Slapshock and April Boy Regino.

See, they're not that snotty! It's just that with Cinemalaya, they finally had the freedom to write and direct the kind of films that they have always wanted to do. So let us SUPPORT!

The Indies!

If you still haven't watched Cinemalaya, you may still catch it this week at the UP Film Center. And with that, allow me to "cybermedia whore" my friends' entries - Emman de La Cruz' Sarong Banggi and housemate Michiko Yamamoto's Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros. They will be shown on Thursday. You must watch them.

I have a feeling Michiko's entry will win the top plum tonight. Keeping my fingers crossed. :) Argh, I actually feel proud to be their friend. Hahahaha :)

ETA: Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros did win big time (no pun intended)! It got the Special Jury Prize, special citation for Best Actor and Best Production Design. Congrats Mitch! :)

Mga kaibigan,

Marahil ay alam niyo na, pero gayunpaman,
hayaan ninyong i-share namin sa inyo ang
magandang balita.

Ang dalawa naming full-length independent digital
film project ay napili ng Cultural Center of the
Philippines (CCP) at Film Development Council of
the Philippines (FDCP) na maging kabilang sa
sampung entry sa Cinemalaya Festival, na
magaganap sa Pebrero. Kasalukuyan kaming
naghahanda para sa shooting ng dalawang
pelikula.

Sarong Banggi ang isa. Galing sa malikot na
imahinasyon ni Emman Dela Cruz, kuwento ito ng
isang babae, isang lalaki, at ang gabi ng kanilang
pagkakakilala isang gabi ng dahan-dahang
pagpapaubaya at unti-unting paghuhubad ng sarili
sa isat isa.

Isinulat naman ni Michiko Yamamoto ang isa pa.
Ang matamis-mapait na pagkakaibigan ng isang
batang bading sa isang baguhang pulis sa gitna
ng
karalitaan at kriminalidad sa lungsod ang siyang
sentro ng kuwento. Ito ay Ang Pagdadalaga ni
Maximo Oliveros.

Bagamat malayo ang mararating ng napanalunan
naming grant (500 thousand per film, na ibibigay
sa
amin ng anim na installment, habang ginagawa
ang
mga pelikula), hindi ito sasapat sa kabuuang
production cost ng nasabing dalawang pelikula.*

Kung kayat kailangan namin ang inyong tulong.

Anumang halaga na inyong bukas-pusong
maipamamalas sa amin ay aming ikalulundag sa
tuwa.

Yakap lamang ang aming maisusukli bilang
pasasalamat, kambal siyempre ng inyong
pangalan sa credits ng aming mga pelikula, at ang
pangako na hindi masasayang ang inyong
partisipasyon.

Marami-rami na rin ang ating pinagdaanan.
Kasama namin kayo sa aming bawat tagumpay.
Sanay samahan niyo pa rin kami dito sa
paglalakbay naming ito.

I just want to say congrats to my friends Michiko, Emman and Byron for being three of the 10 finalists in the Cinemalaya Awards. Grabe, bow ako sa inyong tatlo! I am Patricia Clarkson in Six Feet Under right now. I'm a groupie of you, artists! I'm so proud to be your friend. Haha! :) Baka sila na ang magiging next Brocka at Bernal, kaya tandaan at panoorin ang entries nila February of 2005 sa First Philippine Independent Film Festival...
